The €FPA Mission

The mission of the €uropean Financial Planning Association is to bring together like-minded financial services practitioners under the auspices of a single independent and objective organisation dedicated to the sustainable development of financial planning in Europe.

€FPA, as a non-profit foundation, seeks to objectively manage the financial planning sector in Europe and, together with the assistance of Consumer Advocacy Groups and policy-making bodies, ensure the protection of both consumers and the profession as a whole. Because €FPA is not tied to commercial enterprises €FPA seeks to provide efficient and effective means of oversight for the financial planning and financial advising professions. €FPA's ultimate mission is to benefit European financial services consumers and practitioners by fostering the highest professional, educational, and ethical standards in Personal Financial Planning and Personal Financial Advising.

Specific goals and objectives of €FPA

• Developing universal educational, professional, ethical and examination standards for financial planners and financial Advisors in Europe;

• Developing financial planning and financial advising as full fledged professions across Europe;

• Increasing the academic and professional body of theory and knowledge concerning financial planning and financial advising;

• €FPA receiving from national and European regulatory bodies, official legal recognition for the oversight of financial planning and financial advising;

• Enhancing the standing of the €uropean Financial Planner, €uropean Financial Advisor and the €uropean Master of Financial Planning marks as well that of the financial advising and financial planning professions in the eyes of consumers, the financial services sector, academic institutions and other stakeholders interested in the development of financial planning and financial advising as a whole;

• Advancing ethical behaviour as a hallmark of the financial planning and financial advising professions in Europe.

The Foundation shall pursue these objectives by:

• drafting and the continuing adaptation of educational and professional standards for financial planners and financial Advisors;

• performing research in the fields of financial planning and financial advising and the related arts and sciences;

• publishing literature, texts, periodicals and other materials relevant to financial planning and financial advising and the related arts and sciences;

• ensuring the competence of €uropean Financial Planner and €uropean Financial Advisor practitioners through the development and continuing adaptation of financial planning and financial advising continuing education programs;

• ensuring that existing and emerging technology in the industry is understood and utilised and where possible assisting in the development of such technology;

• organising conferences, seminars and other educational and promotional events in the field of financial planning and the related arts and sciences;

• promoting and guarding €FPA Licensed Trademarks, Logos and Brand Names;

• lobbying for governmental recognition of €FPA and acceptance of the standards and programs €FPA has developed;

• acting as an intermediary between all Affiliates, academic institutions, European stakeholders, and the financial services sector, as a hub of knowledge exchange and technical expertise in all fields of financial planning and financial advising.
